Descriptions: The mission of Langston Hughes Academy Charter School is to provide all scholars with the knowledge, skills and character traits necessary to succeed in high school, college and the world beyond.
Intern Responsibilities:
? Collect cultural artifacts that embody CLASS-E Values (literature, music, film, etc.)
? Develop and share relevant practices (daily and weekly rituals and/or celebrations)
? Collaborate with school leaders to integrate artifacts and practices into a practical curriculum
New Skills and Experience
Skills the intern will gain through this internship:
1. The intern will gain an understanding of character education and positive discipline, and how to best implement values in a classroom/school-wide setting.
2. The intern will become adept at communicating to a diverse elementary and middle school community.
3. The intern will acquire advanced insight into the daily operations and development of a thriving charter school.
Experiences the student will gain through this internship:
1. Work in an exciting, successful, and multi-cultural charter school in the heart of New Orleans.
2. Attend school and community meetings.
3. Broad involvement and lasting input into Langston Hughes Academy programming efforts.
Product of Partnership: An artifact portfolio with resources collected over the semester.
