Descriptions: LAGC provides practical and foundational environmental literacy for disadvantaged youth before beginning job skills training. Currently, the curriculum includes built and natural environments, environmental justice, sustainable development, and stresses practical career and lifestyle pathways that support environmental sustainability. The LAGC Environmental Education Intern will help with classroom instruction support, which can include small group work. The program includes construction and environmental hands-on projects that the intern can help supervise if the intern?s schedule and interest fits. The Intern will be encouraged to take initiative to create mini-projects or hands-on activities to make lessons more tangible and practical.
Product of Partnership: The culminating project can be a presentation by the Intern, developing an environmental literacy project for students, or developing curriculum projects for the next sessions.
Final Product Special Instructions:Participants are 18-21 year old low-income, court-involved, and otherwise disadvantaged youth. Intern must be comfortable working with this population.

The CP requests emergency contact information.If Intern decides to participate as a supervisor for off-site projects, they must have an emergency contact as a safety precaution.
Evaluations/surveys will be requested by community partner to be completed by students.
At the end of service, students might be asked to complete an evaluation. It will be used to improve the position in the future.

Check-in at the site: Student will check-in with site supervisor when arriving at site.
Students track their hours at site: Student will be responsible for tracking their hours on a spreadsheet
Students will work unsupervised:Student will be working in a classroom of participants without staff observation.
At the culmination of service,LAGC staff, participants, and interns will come together for a celebration. LAGC will provide a certification of appreciation.
