After School Program Fine Arts Intern

Descriptions: The purpose of this internship is to gain direct experience working with children as well as our program as a whole in the after school setting. This internship is intended for the individual who has an interest in the fine arts. It will help bridge the gap between theory and practical experience. The internship is designed to provide training with some practical application of skills. Duties will include assisting with after school operations, participating in staff meetings and program debrief meetings, supervising youth as needed, developing fine art theme-based activities, and observing and leading camp activities. Creative Arts interns will work with groups of K-8th grade students during the enrichment portion of the after school program to develop engaging projects that focus on one or more of the following arts: dance, music, visual arts, photography/video production, and drama. Examples of intern projects include but are not limited to: dance routine choreography, visual arts projects, working with students to write, develop, and produce a play or short film, video/music production skills, graphic & web design, arts & crafts projects.

Requirements

Finger Print is Required.Fingerprinting is part of our background check process.
Background Checks is Required. We conduct background checks on all of our interns and volunteers.
The CP requests emergency contact information.Emergency Contact information will only be used in case of an emergency involving the student.
Evaluations/surveys will be requested by community partner to be completed by students.
We have a brief exit interview that we will ask the intern to complete.
Students allowed to take pictures or video.

Availability

Location and Travel

Students will work both on site at Banneker Elementary (421 Burdette St.) and from home.

Supervision and Risk

Check-in at the site: Sign in at the Volunteer binder and inform the program manager that they have arrived.
Students track their hours at site: Students will track their hours on a time.sheet kept on site in our volunteer binder.
