Descriptions: The purpose of this internship is to gain direct experience working with children as well as our program as a whole in the summer camp setting. This internship is intended for the individual who has an interest in education, recreation, youth leadership, child development or a variety of other fields. It will help bridge the gap between theory and practical experience. The internship is designed to provide training with some practical application of skills. Duties will include assisting with summer camp operations, participating in staff meetings and program debrief meetings, supervising youth as needed, developing theme-based activities, and observing and leading camp activities. In addition, interns will be responsible for completing an independent project related to the experience such as developing educational activities or lesson plans, developing newsletters, and assisting with planning a final student showcase.
Product of Partnership: There are a variety of options including lesson plans for academics or enrichment, newsletter development, or a major role in planning a final student showcase.
Final Product Special Instructions:Day to day duties will include assisting with summer camp operations, participating in staff meetings and program debrief meetings, supervising youth as needed, developing theme-based activities, and observing and leading camp activities.

Students will work both on site at Banneker Elementary (421 Burdette St.) and from home.
