Descriptions: We are seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to help develop the educational capacity of Hollygrove Market and Farm. The Education Outreach Intern will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Hollygrove Market and Farm garden tour program for K-8 students. We believe that an engaging and informative garden tour program can promote good nutrition, provide opportunities for interdisciplinary lessons, and improve environmental attitudes.
Product of Partnership: Work with the Hollygrove Market and Farm staff to incorporate educational activities into the garden tour. Lead fun and informative tours for K-8 students.Recruit and train volunteer docents. Solicit K-8 schools to come visit the garden

Requirements

Students allowed to take pictures or video.
Specific Policies: PSA students can take pictures or videos of students with the permission of the student's schools/parents. Either a teacher or administrator will complete a photo release form prior to the arrival of participating students.

Required PSA dress code

Farm casual-closed toed shoes, appropriate clothing to be around children

Availability

Location and Travel

The student will work primarily at Hollygrove Market & Farm. Local area students K-8 usually arrive by bus or public transportation to the site where the Tours and Educational Programs take place. Student may assist AmeriCorps VISTA in presenting information to local schools.

Supervision and Risk

Check-in at the site: Student will check-in with their supervisor at Hollygrove Market and Farm.
Students track their hours at site: Student will track their hours independently, and submit hours to their supervisor at the end of each week
Students will work unsupervised:Students may be asked to lead school tours without the supervision of a Hollygrove staff person. Students will be expected to be familiar with subject matter and be able to set up and tear down materials.
