Community Outreach Intern

Descriptions: Community Outreach intern will be responsible for conducting outreach to the local community and surrounding universities about Green Light New Orleans' free energy efficient light bulb program. Additionally, outreach will be conducted to mobilize volunteer groups as well. Ideal candidate must possess strong public speaking skills, is detail-oriented, and has a passion for environmental issues.
Product of Partnership: To produce program sign-ups, bring in volunteer groups, and turn in a final report recapping experiences, skills gained, and best practices for next community outreach intern
Final Product Special Instructions:The Intern will be responsible for increasing Green Light's involvement with the New Orleans community. Responsibilities include: researching neighborhood organizations meeting dates and times, contacting neighborhood organizations to conduct outreach at their membership meetings, talking to community members about Green Light?s mission, signing people up for our free light bulb program, and recruiting volunteers for light bulb installations.

Requirements

The CP requests emergency contact information.In case of emergencies
Evaluations/surveys will be requested by community partner to be completed by students.
Evaluations/surveys will be conducted by supervisor near the end of the students internship term. Information will be used to further improve the quality of the internship program and projects.
Students allowed to take pictures or video.

Availability

Location and Travel

Student will work at Green Light's office, and often attend community meetings around the city.

Supervision and Risk

Check-in at the site: Students will sign in on their time sheets and let their supervisors know they have arrived.
Students track their hours at site: Students will have time sheets to keep track of their hours.
Students will work unsupervised:Students may work unsupervised to perform light bulb installations, conduct volunteer orientations, and speak and community meetings.
