Descriptions: The media and journalism intern will photograph and video New Orleans Outreach?s enrichment programs at Science and Math Academy. The media and journalism intern will be responsible for maintaining the photograph and video portfolio for Fall 2011 programming. The media and journalism intern will also be responsible for collecting and writing stories regarding programming at Science and Math Academy. As a capstone to the internship, the intern will compile video, photographs, and literature into a presentation for a student enrichment exposition at the end of the semester. Science and Math Academy is an open enrollment charter high school in New Orleans East with the mission to prepare each of its scholars for college success and innovative and world-changing pursuits. Ideal candidates will demonstrate leadership, and initiative, as well as adherence to the core values of Science and Math Academy: achievement, respect, responsibility,perseverance, teamwork and enthusiasm. All created materials may be put on display in the Outreach office and may be used in various other outlets to further the work of New Orleans Outreach?s programs.

Students will work at the Science and Math Academy (5552 Read Blvd. NOLA 70127)

Supervision and Risk

Check-in at the site: Students will need to check in with their site supervisor.
Students track their hours at site: Students will track their hours independently via timesheets.
