Descriptions: Assist high school students in one our partner schools in transitioning from high school to college. Talk with students about college options, college admission requirements, as well as preparation of the college application and identifying scholarship opportunities.
Product of Partnership: Support for college going process
Final Product Special Instructions:Provide assistance to high school students in preparing for the transition from high school to college. Assist students in their understanding of available college options, college application process, and identifying scholarship opportunities. Support high school guidance staff with the Cowen Institute’s AdvanceNOLA program schools in creating a college going culture which may include administrative and organizational assistance in coordinating, planning, and developing college fairs, student-parent information sessions on the college admissions and financial aid process, and developing and delivering workshops on how to ensure success in college.
This service activity is availble for Service learning students Intern students Volunteers.
Background Check is Required. Background check conducted by NOPD.
Students are not allowed to take pictures or video.
Availability Requirements:1-2 hours a week. Depends on individual.
Minimum Service Hours per month: 4
Minimum Positions: 5

Some locations accessible by public transportation and/or walking distance to Tulane campus.
Check-in at the site: Check in with AP Coordinator, guidance staff, Jones Scholar.
Students track their hours at site: May use a sign-in sheet.
