Descriptions: The Community Outreach Intern will work with the Community Outreach Coordinator for New Orleans EMS on activities such as health fairs, the EMS explorer program, presentations to high school groups, and on various other outreach activities.

Final Product Special Instructions:The community outreach intern will work directly with the New Orleans EMS Community Outreach Coordinator to develop programs, activities, and other projects for the greater New Orleans population. Examples include work on health fairs, the EMS explorers program, CPR classes, and grade school and high school outreach.

Background Checks is Required. Pursuant to possible work with children and in high schools, a standard background check will be conducted by New Orleans EMS at no cost to the student.
Certification is Required Certification as a CPR instructor is preferred, but not required.
Students may be asked to bring a laptop on occasion to work on projects.
The CP requests emergency contact information.Emergency contact information will be filed with the Director of Human Resources, Finance, and Administration at New Orleans EMS to be used in the event of an emergency.
Evaluations/surveys will be requested by community partner to be completed by students.
At the end of the experience an evaluation will be conducted. The evaluation will be used to guide future activities and the work of future interns.

Specific Policies: HIPPA policies may apply to clients, depending on the setting and the relationship between the client and the student. Additionally, some students may interact with children under the age of 18, these instances have specific policies governing the interactions.

Students will work at New Orleans EMS administrative offices (401 N. Jefferson Davis Parkway) and in the field at various outreach locations.

Students track their hours at site: Hours will be logged on an agency provided time sheet.
