Mission statements

The Dinerral Shavers Educational Fund (DSEF) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which was founded in March of 2007 in honor of Dinerral Shavers, who was murdered months before. Prior to his death, Dinerral was a member of the iconic Hot 8 Brass Band, a New Orleans Civil Sheriff, an entrepreneur, as well as educator and band director at L.E. Rabouin High School. Our mission at DSEF is to further Dinerral?s legacy by opening doors and awarding opportunities to the youth of New Orleans. DSEF sponsors several programs and initiatives to our annual Scholarship Essay Contest, Back to School Extravaganza- School Supply Giveaway, College Tour Event, and Career and College Fair, and has plans to implement several new programs and initiatives in the year of 2012.
