The Barbara E. Moely Service Learning Teaching Award will be presented annually to a professor who embraces Dr. Moely's exceptional dedication to bringing classrooms to life though engaged partnerships. This award is a reflection of Dr. Moely's decades-long devotion of bridging the university-community divide by training students across disciplines to become compassionate and culturally competent leaders.

Barbara E. Moely is Professor Emerita in Psychology and Research Affiliate of the Center for Public Service. She has been involved in service learning for more than a dozen years, teaching courses, conducting funding projects, and serving as the founding Director of Tulane's Office of Service Learning. Barbara's work through the Office of Service Learning provided the opportunity for curricular engagement at Tulane to flourish.
She is a co-editor of the 2009 and 2010 volumes of the Advances in Service-Learning Research series and serves as Senior Associate Editor of the Michigan Journal of Community Service Learning.
For her engaged scholarship and her efforts on institutionalizing service learning at Tulane and other campuses, Dr. Moely received numerous prestigious awards for her contribution to the field of engaged scholarship. Her accolades include the following:
