The Barbara E. Moely Service Learning Teaching Award

The Barbara E. Moely Service Learning Teaching Award will be presented annually to a professor who embraces Dr. Moely's exceptional dedication to bringing classrooms to life though engaged partnerships. This award is a reflection of Dr. Moely's decades-long devotion of bridging the university-community divide by training students across disciplines to become compassionate and culturally competent leaders.


Nominees should have achieved success in:

•    demonstrating leadership in undergraduate students’ service learning courses, creating meaningful service activities that benefit the community, relating course content of student participants to their service experience, adapting to the needs of students and community, constructing innovative approaches to reflection activities, integrating civic and community engagement in one’s teaching, research, and service;

•    creating exemplary engaged scholarship, including conducting community-based research, fostering reciprocal community partnerships, building institutional commitments to service learning and civic engagement, and other means of enhancing higher education’s contributions to the public good;

All regular full-time Tulane University faculty are eligible who hold a the following academic titles: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor, Professor of the Practice and Senior Professor of the Practice.
