Jonathan Scott grew up in a small town in Pennsylvania. He graduated from the University of California Berkeley. He is a RPCV (returned Peace Corps volunteer), who volunteered, right out of college, for two years in Morocco, Africa as an English instructor for adults and children. During his second year of service he coordinated a very successful Peace Corps community fundraiser, which funded over 40 community projects across the country. After completing his Peace Corps service, he had the opportunity to travel across Europe before returning to the states and working in a variety of interesting jobs for the next 10 years. Jonathan joined the Americorps/Vista program in 2012 and worked as the Volunteer/Outreach Coordinator for the Alliance for Affordable Energy. The Alliance is a non-profit organization and advocates for better energy policies in Louisiana. In March 2013 Jonathan completed his first year with Americorps/Vista program. Since beginning his second year with the Americorps/Vista program he's been working with the New Orleans Fruit Tree Project as their Harvest/Outreach Coordinator. The NOFTP harvests and redistributes excess fruit grown in the Greater New Orleans region, educates the public on the diversity and cultural importance of regionally grown fruit and advocate for the maintenance and expansion of the edible, urban forest.
