Support the Center for Public Service

Dear Friends,

Established as a major component of Tulane’s renewed commitment to the community following Hurricane Katrina, the Center for Public Service continues to make great strides in forming lasting and sustainable partnerships with the community.  New Orleans is now stronger than ever before and we are proud to play a part in its renewal. We have learned a lot over the past five years and have sought to share these lessons through the work of our students, faculty and staff members with communities around the country and the world.

Our work has contributed to Tulane’s role as a leader among institutions of higher education in community engagement.  The Center continues to implement the public service graduation requirement – Tulane is still the only research university with a curricular requirement for public service.  We ensure that all students have ample opportunity to get involved, by offering a number of programs including service-learning courses, direct volunteerism, and faculty and student-driven community-based research.   As a Center, we will continue to challenge ourselves to surpass our accomplishments of the previous five years and develop new and innovative engagement opportunities.

Tulane’s commitment to the community continues to grow.  The Center is now a central component of Tulane Empowers, a unique initiative that will boost our work to connect the academic mission of Tulane with a commitment to finding solutions to some of society’s most pressing problems.  Through Tulane Empowers and building upon our solid foundation, we will be able to deepen our work to promote academically-rooted service opportunities and engage our Tulane community in other areas of service.

The Center for Public Service plays a key role in supporting innovative initiatives to find community-based solutions. You can play a key role by sponsoring the work of the Center.   In this section, you will find information on ways that you can invest in us.  Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have questions.  Thank you for wanting to learn more about the Center for Public Service and we look forward to welcoming you as a partner in our work.

Sincerely,

Vincent Ilustre
