Since its founding in 2006, the Center for Public Service at Tulane has become a leader in the field of academic community engagement in higher education. Tulane is the first and only major private university with an undergraduate public service requirement, and we have become a national and international model for other institutions to follow.
Our efforts are as meaningful to students and the university as to the communities we work with, as we are steadfastly committed to facilitating mutually-beneficial relationships and transformative teaching, learning, and research. While our work is first and foremost rooted in the academic mission of Tulane University, we are committed to bridging the gap between academia and the communities to address social challenges and foster responsible citizenship.
We have achieved so much, but we are still looking forward. We have a plan for our future—an ambitious 10-year strategic plan that expands the possibilities for public service at Tulane. Our plan includes an impressive mapping system to ensure progress is tracked and resources best leveraged. The plan also will foster a supportive culture between the campus and the community by remaining inclusive and celebrating diversity.
The Center for Public Service plays a key role in supporting innovative initiatives to find community-based solutions. You can be vital to our success by sponsoring the work of the center. Thank you for learning more about the Center for Public Service, and we look forward to welcoming you as a partner in our work.
