Dr. Jones is committed to the growth and success of the Upward Bound program and the revitalization of the New Orleans education system. She has lead in the higher education field for over 10 years and has facilitated university and community partnerships, program development and policy development. She has taught Evaluation and Assessment and Designing Local Programs and Research Skills at Medgar Evers College, City University of New York. Dr. Jones received her Master's degree from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in Educational Policy Studies and her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Research from Louisiana State University.
Penny Johnson-Ward

Penny Ward is a graduate of Southern University at New Orleans. Presently, she is an Urban Studies graduate student at the University of New Orleans, concentrating in Cultural and Historical Preservation. Before joining Tulane’s Upward Bound Program, Penny taught in Orleans Parish for four years as a high school Social Studies teacher, and for one year, as a middle school teacher.

Latisha joined Upward Bound in February 2006. Since that time, she has been instrumental in the development of our administrative procedures, student records maintenance. She supports our instructors and administrators in academic program initiatives. Additionally, Latisha serves as Upward Bound's finance and communications manager. She also co-teaches Senior Composition preparing our Upward Bound seniors to succeed in college writing courses. Latisha is a student at the University of New Orleans earning a degree in Business Management.
