Hazard Mitigation

Definition: Any sustained action to reduce or eliminate long-term risk to people and property from natural hazards and their effects.

Mission Statement: Support Tulane University's mission of creating, communicating, and conserving knowledge by:

• Reviewing the design of existing facilities to identify attainable measures to reduce or eliminate the long-term risk from natural hazards.
• Recommending and implementing cost-effective facility modifications to reduce or eliminate risk.
• Participating in the design process for new facilities to incorporate design elements  that reduce or eliminate the long-term risk from natural hazards.
