During your Stay

We understand that learning to navigate a college campus and new city can be an intimidating process, and we want to help alleviate some of your worries. In addition to the resources provided here, you can always call our 24-hour reception desk at (504) 862-3943.

Arriving on Campus

We have provided driving directions and cab service information to help get you to campus. We have also provided some check-in guidelines to help prepare you for what to expect. If your conference or youth group has given you specific instructions, please refer to their process.

Remember that as a University Conferences guest, you have complimentary access to a parking pass - please provide our reception desk with your license plate information before parking on campus to avoid a parking ticket. You also have complimentary access to Reily Recreation Center, a full-service gym. When the Reily attendant asks for your ID, simply hand over your temporary access card and they will swipe you in. Finally, Tulane University's campus is equipped with wireless and ethernet internet access. Please call the reception desk at (504) 862-3943 for log-in information.

Introduction to Campus

Like many university campuses, Tulane students and staff use a lot of acronyms and nicknames which are foreign to conference guests just learning how to navigate campus. The following terms are often used, and may be helpful to understand:

Uptown Campus: Tulane's campus located between St. Charles and Claiborne Avenue in Uptown New Orleans. Tulane's downtown campus houses our medical and public health schools.

HRL: Housing and Residence Life, the department that houses our University Conferences program.

TUPD: The Tulane Police Department, which patrols campus and the nearby community. TUPD regularly checks residence halls where you will be staying to ensure your security. In an emergency, please dial 911 or (504) 865-5911. In other circumstances, please call our reception desk at (504) 862-3943 and our staff will direct you to the right department or contact.

LBC: Our student union, the Lavin-Bernick Center. The LBC is the hub of campus life, including many food choices, banking and printing services, and meeting spaces. It also holds a fair trade store, salon, and barbershop.

Bruff: Bruff Commons Dining Hall, our central cafeteria-style food service.

Central Office: HRL's main office, located on the first floor of Irby Residence Hall.

Howard-Tilton: The main library, located on Freret St. and Newcomb Blvd.

Reily: Tulane's recreation and fitness facility, located on McAlister Dr. and Ben Weiner Dr.

Wavebucks or Tulane Debit: The electronic meal dollars available for our University Conferences guests to purchase. These meal dollars are placed on your access card at the beginning of your stay. PLEASE NOTE: If you lose your access card and it contains Wavebucks or Tulane Debit, please call our reception desk at (504) 862-3943 immediately so we can transfer your balance to your new access card.
