The Reading Project continues with a screening of this critically acclaimed animated film, based on the autobiographical graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi, who co-wrote and co-directed the film version. The heroine of Persepolis is an Iranian teenager who rebels against the newly powerful Islamic fundamentalist regime, buying Western music and clothing on the black market, but who must ultimately come to terms with her heritage. Elyse Luray, NC '89, is an appraiser and art historian whose career has taken her from Christie's auction house to "Antiques Roadshow" to her current role as one of the hosts of PBS's "History Detectives." She gave a lecture and video presentation about her career and her background as a Tulane art history major, followed by a reception.
