Newcomb Film Series Presents "The Girl From Birch Creek"

A woman faces tragedy and hardship as a young girl in Depression-era Kansas, but grows up to fight the battle for equal justice and for women’s equality during the 1970’s, opening the doors of opportunity for generations of women who will come after her. "Girl from Birch Creek", narrated by Nina Totenberg, tells the story of Rosalie Wahl, first woman appointed to the Minnesota Supreme Court; and the story of the women’s movement which made Rosalie’s appointment possible.
