Guantánamo: Past, Present, Future

How to incorporate the Guantánamo Public Memory Project into your Fall 2014 Classes

featuring Jana Lipman

Date: Wednesday, September 3, 2014
Time: 12:30 PM - 1:45 PM
Building: Jones Hall, Greenleaf Conference room
Location: uptown campus

The exhibit and corresponding website use provocative questions, oral histories, and competing perspectives to raise questions about the history of the U.S. naval base in Guantánamo Bay in the past, present, and future. We will discuss classroom strategies for engagement and interaction with the exhibit.   The exhibit can be used as a way to discuss a broad range of contemporary issues and should be of relevance across disciplines, from philosophy to Spanish language, military history to immigration in America, national security to art and society.  Lunch will be held in the Greenleaf Conference Room, in Jones Hall, followed by a tour of the exhibit.
