On January 25, 2008 the Newcomb Department of Music inaugurated a new recital series in memory of two notable New Orleans musicians. This memorial concert series recognizes the work and legacy of Mrs. Clara Del Marmol (1893-1994), a distinguished faculty member of Newcomb College, and Mrs. Annabelle Bernard-Mercker (c 1934-2005), an internationally renowned African-American soprano who was a native New Orleanian.

The Newcomb Department of Music has established the Clara del Marmol and Annabelle Bernard Fund and generous donations to the fund have allowed the Newcomb Department of Music to launch the Clara del Marmol and Annabelle Bernard annual vocal series. These annual concerts are meant to focus attention on Tulane's vocal music division.  Future concerts will be announced shortly.
