Works of art can be invaluable tools for engaging students, strengthening visual literacy as well as careful observation and critical thinking skills essential to all disciplines. This informal session will consider creative ways to use works of art in teaching beyond the more obvious fields of art and art history. We will explore and exchange ideas for using the ever-growing plethora of online visual resources such as ArtStor, Google Art, Flickr, and others.  Also, we will think about strategies for incorporating museum assignments and visits to the Newcomb Art Gallery.
