The Black Arts Festival is an annual event sponsored by the Tulane Black Student Union (African-American Congress of Tulane), established in 1969 as the first African-American organization on the Tulane campus. Their mission is to promote cultural, academic, social, and political growth and awareness of issues and problems relevant to the Black community as we encourage a positive image of African Americans. We strive for academic excellence among our members through the use of study groups and mentoring programs. It has become tradition that we celebrate African American achievement through our Black Arts Festival. After the great success of last year’s festival, we seek to surpass the level that our student body expects.
