This large-scale choral piece is composed by Newcomb College alumna Odaline de la Martinez, developed from Joan Anim-Addo’s libretto, Imoinda, and will be performed in commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. This premier performance will include student members of the Tulane and Xavier choirs, a local percussion ensemble, and string players from the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. Co-sponsored by the Newcomb Department of Music, Walter and Ruth Jenkins, and an anonymous donor.
