Attorney Ira Sorkin ’65, best known for representing Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff, is a Member of the Firm in Lowenstein Sandler’s White Collar Defense group. Early in his career, he was a trial attorney at the Securities and Exchange Commission, and he went on to serve as director of the S.E.C.’s New York office. He has also served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division in New York, prosecuting federal violations from organized crime to securities fraud. He has spoken nationally and internationally on white collar crime, regulatory defense, internal investigations, and corporate governance, and has been listed in publications including Super Lawyers and The Best Lawyers in America. Mr. Sorkin holds an honorary doctorate from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, where he serves on the Board of Governors.
