Native Plant Symposium

Native Wetlands Plants in Water Management

featuring Dr. Doug Tallamy

Date: Friday, October 11, 2013
Time: 5:30 AM - 7:30 PM

Location:
Delgado Community College, 916 Navarre Ave, New Orleans, LA 70119

On October 11, Bayou Rebirth is hosting a one-day Native Plant Symposium on the benefits native plants bring to southeast Louisiana’s urban environment.  This conference, to be held at Delgado Community College, will bring together a diverse group of professionals and community members to network, share knowledge and expertise, and discuss the role of native plants in urban water management, wildlife habitat and resilience to climate change. The morning agenda includes keynote speaker Dr. Doug Tallamy followed by three panel discussions on Engineering and Planning, Benefits of Native Plants and Local Action and Reaction. Afternoon activities include breakout sessions to engage attendees to design solutions to water issues using native plants, and also optional field trips to nearby native plant gardens in the urban area.  These field trips and a pre-conference morning coffee site tour require an additional fee, but all Symposium attendees are invited to a complimentary reception put on by Longue Vue House and Gardens at the end of the day. Register today! Early Bird tickets are $35 for professionals, $20 for general public, and $10 for students (free for Delgado students) – these prices will last only until September 20.
