In Exile: The History and Lore Surrounding New Orleans Gay Culture and Its Oldest Gay Bar tells the fascinating tale of how gay New Orleans culture grew in the twentieth century--of how homophobia led to the founding of the nation’s oldest gay bar, of the origins of gay Carnival Culture, and how Southern Decadence, one of the largest gay festivals in the world, began as an impromptu house party for a handful of bored college students.
This event is co-sponsored by the Gender and Sexuality Studies Program of the School of Liberal Arts and the Office for Gender and Sexual Diversity of Tulane University, in coordination with Tulane Pride Week 2012.
