Dr. Tony Herring, Caldwell Visiting Professor, will present his acclaimed documentary "DeBakey" which pays homage to the life of world-renowned surgeon and Tulane alumnus Dr. Michael DeBakey. The documentary carries audiences through the surgeon's remarkable history, touching on his personal life, his numerous professional accomplishments and his legacy within the context of medical science.
The Caldwell Visiting Professorship is presented annually in honor of Dr. Guy Caldwell. Dr. Caldwell came to Tulane in 1938 and served as Professor and Chairman of the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery. With other Chairmen at Tulane, he helped institute the formation of the Ochsner Clinic which opened in 1942. He also served as its first Chief of Orthopaedics at Tulane and at Ochsner.
