All undergraduate students, faculty and staff are invited to enjoy the Newcomb-Tulane College Friday morning tradition of coffee, donuts, and conversation on the porch of Cudd Hall. Every first Friday of the month, the Dean's Coffee also presents live music.
This month's featured performer is the Khris Royal Trio. Royal, a New Orleans native and Berklee College of Music scholarship recipient, is an exceptional musician who began playing saxophone at age seven. Combining “high-energy New Orleans funk with intricate and sophisticated jazz lines,” his young, progressive band Dark Matter performs regularly throughout New Orleans. Royal has also performed with everyone from Branford Marsalis and Fred Wesley to Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews and the Wild Magnolias Mardi Gras Indians, and has recorded with Mary J. Blige, Erykah Badu and The Game.
