ONE MILLION BONES, in partnership with Students Rebuild, is a global social arts project that raises awareness of humanitarian crises worldwide. 1,000,000 handmade bones will be collected and laid down at the National Mall in D.C. in June 2013, bringing, close to home, an image far too common in Rwanda in 1994, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo currently, and many other places plagued with injustice. Each bone made triggers a $1 donation, up to $500,000, by the Bezos Family Foundation, towards CARE's relief work in the DR of the Congo and Somalia.
