Discovering Social Innovation through Scholarship

Tulane’s First Annual Graduate Student-led Symposium

Date: Friday, April 4, 2014
Time: 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM
Building: Weinmann Hall (Law) in Room 110
Location: uptown campus
Other Information: Multipurpose Room

“Discovering Social Innovation through Scholarship” is the first annual symposium on social innovation led by doctoral students from Tulane University. The symposium offers an opportunity for researchers and academics to learn how different disciplines are investigating social innovation. We aim to hold a scholarly forum to:

  • Discover multidisciplinary research assessing this emerging field;
  • Identify new approaches and strategies of investigation; and
  • Explore the boundaries and trends within the field of social innovation.

The symposium provides a forum for social innovation scholars to delve into cutting edge research, learn and explore methods, discuss trends and hot-button issues, and connect to new networks. We seek to engage and discover a network of scholars around the world researching social innovation with hopes of this becoming the annual scholarly student-led social innovation event.

The symposium will feature keynote speaker and special guest Phil Auerswald, 2013 Presidential Fellow at George Mason University, Co-Founder and Co-Editor of Innovations, a quarterly journal about entrepreneurial solutions to global challenges.
