Tulane student-athletes have several places to go for help.
The primary objective of the Office of Student-Athlete Academic Services is to assist student-athletes in their efforts to complete their degree requirements and to develop the skills necessary to be productive citizens.
Academic counselors assist student-athletes in their pursuit of an undergraduate degree through the development and evaluation of their academic plans based upon educational and career objectives. Furthermore, the office assists student-athletes in the clarification of their life and career goals. The academic staff extends a caring, committed effort in helping students' intellectual, cultural, physical and social development.
Newcomb-Tulane College's Academic Advising Center offers a centralized organization to support undergraduates in creating educational plans congruent with their individual objectives. The center's staff assists students to refine their academic goals, understand their choices, and assess their options, complementing the work of faculty advisers in the schools. Academic advising can reached at 504-865-5798 or by e-mailing advising@tulane.edu or by visiting the center between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The Tulane Career Center offers services to students for a variety of career needs, such as how to choose a major or a career path which best suits their interests, skills and personal values. The center provides access to job and internship resources, helps with résumés and cover letters, conducts mock interviews, assists with graduate school preparation, and more. The center also helps students streamline their job search strategies to optimize future success. The center can be reached at 504-865-5107 or csc@tulane.edu.
Any student-athlete experiencing a crisis should call the Tulane Student-Athlete Crisis Line at 888-836-9168. The staff is standing by 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help you in the event of an emergency.
The Educational Resource Center (ERC) is a great place to go for tutoring. Please see your academic counselor in advance if you would like to receive AEP (academic enhancement program) credit hours.
The ERC also offers a variety of services to the Tulane community, such as individual, group, and couples psychotherapy; psychological testing; vocational testing; ADHD assessments; tutoring; disability services; community outreach; consultations; and educational workshops. Call 504-865-5113 or visit the ERC between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
