Personal Development

It is vital to the maturation process that student-athletes develop a good understanding of positive values, because those values are the foundation of determining and motivating their behavior. Upon gaining an understating what is expected of Tulane student-athletes, they are given all the tools necessary to grow into young adults. The overarching theme of the personal development programs offered to our student-athletes emphasizes becoming more productive and effective while maintaining focus on what's really important in life.

By educating our student-athletes and giving them tools to make positive life decisions, they become empowered enough to take control of their own happiness, health and well-being.

The primary goal of the NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills commitment to the personal development area is to support the development of a well-balanced lifestyle for student-athletes, encouraging emotional well-being, personal growth and decision-making skills.

Through the services provided by the sports medicine staff, our director of life skills and the athletics academic staff, Tulane student-athletes are provided a number of opportunities to develop healthy lifestyles as well-balanced, well-adjusted individuals.
