Research Compliance

On behalf of the ASVPR, the University Research Compliance Officer ("URCO") acts to oversee and ensure research compliance with regulations applicable to the use of human and animal subjects, biosafety and pre-award grants administration. In this capacity, the URCO ensures that all research conducted at the University adheres to the applicable federal and state regulations. This goal is accomplished by working with the Office of Research Administration and with the compliance committees governing animal use, biosafety, human research protections and radiation use.

NIH PUBLIC ACCESS POLICY:  The NIH public access policy requires that authors of articles arising from NIH-funded research must submit to PubMed Central an electronic copy of their final peer-peer reviewed manuscripts if 1) the manuscript is accepted for publication in a journal on or after April 7, 2008 and arises from research funded by an NIH grant or cooperative agreement active in the NIH Fiscal year 2008 or later (Oct 1, 2007 or later); or 2) the manuscript is accepted for publication and arises from research funded by an NIH grant or cooperative agreement that is dated on or after April 7, 2008.  Attached is a letter for use by Tulane authors notifying publishers that an article being submitted for consideration is based on NIH-funded research and therefore must be made accessible to the public under the NIH’s public access policy.
