DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY
DAY 1 ~ IN TRANSIT
Depart your gateway city for Limaaboard scheduled jet service.* Upon arrival, transfer* to the Hotel José Antonio Executive Lima.
DAY 2 ~ LIMA
Educational Focus: The History of Peru.Excursion: Lima. The Plaza
Mayor was the stage for Peru’s 1821 declaration of independence. Admire its bronze fountain, unveiled in 1651. See the President’s Palace and City Hall and visit the Cathedral.Excursion: National Museum of Archaeology, Anthropology and History. Explore one of the largest museums in South America. Tonight, attend a Welcome Reception.
DAY 3 ~ LIMA/CUZCO
Educational Focus: Andean Civilization. Fly from Lima to Cuzco. Upon arrival, transfer to the Hotel José Antonio Cuzco. Educational Focus: Meet the People.
DAY 4 ~ CUZCO
Educational Focus: Machu Picchu. Excursion: Cuzco. See the city’sworld-renowned Cathedral, built on the remains of an Inca palace. Thehilltop temple of Sacsayhuamánoffers a look at Inca military architecture. The nearby Sacred Valley features the pink-stone fortress Puka Pukara and Qenko, an amphitheater where mummies were
worshiped under the sun.
DAY 5 ~ MACHU PICCHU
Take a train ride through the Sacred Valley of the Inca toAguas Calientes and theInkaterra Machu Picchu. Excursion: Machu Picchu.Explore the Temple of the Three Windows, the Sacristy, the famous Hitching Post of the Sun, the Temple of the Sun and other highlights.
DAY 6 ~ MACHU PICCHU/CUZCO
Return by train to Cuzco and the Hotel José Antonio Cuzco.
DAY 7 ~ THE SACRED VALLEY
Excursion: Chinchero and the Temple of Ollantaytambo. In Chinchero, locals speak Quechua and wear traditional dress. At the village market, you’ll find ceramics, silver jewelry and Andean musical instruments. Ollantaytambo, built on top of an Inca settlement, is the one surviving example of Inca town planning. Excursion: Awana Cancha. Learn about the llama, alpaca, vicuña and guanaco. See how the fleece of these animals is used to weave colorful clothing.
DAY 8 ~ PUNO
Climb aboard the Andean Explorer for a scenic rail journey to Punoand the Hotel José Antonio Executive Puno. The train will make stops, including one at La Raya, the highest point along the route, so that you may appreciate the views of Lake Titicaca.
DAY 9 ~ PUNO/LAKE TITICACA
Excursion: Lake Titicaca. Spend the day discovering this storied lake. It is home to 33 islands, including Taquile, where its Quechua residents are known for their highquality textiles. See the floating islands of the Uros people, who liveon islands made of totora reeds.
DAY 10 ~ Puno/LIMA
Fly from Puno to Lima. Upon arrival, transfer to the Hotel José Antonio Executive Lima. Tonight, attend a Farewell Reception, Graduation Ceremony and a Farewell Dinner at one of Lima’s stately colonial mansions, Casa García Alvarado.
DAY 11 ~ IN TRANSIT
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the return flight to your gateway city.*

OPTIONAL INDEPENDENT ACTIVITY T'ang Dynasty Dinner Show Xi'an, cosmopolitan capital of the T'ang Dynasty (618-907), was an important city on the Silk Road. Standing on the crossroad of commerce and culture, the city's affluence grew and the arts flourished as rulers of this dynasty embraced the many cultures introduced to the city. So admired was Xi'an that the ancient Japanese capitals of Nara and Kyoto were modeled after it. Join this excursion to an entertaining T'ang Dynasty Dinner Show that highlights the culture of this Chinese Golden Age.
