Hotel Reykjavík Centrum
Ideally set in the historic heart of the capital, the Hotel Reykjavík Centrum was opened in 2005. Occupying three charming structures in the oldest street in the city, its middle, renovated building dates from 1764. ON either side, two new reconstructions designed in 1900-era style feature the Fjalaköttur restaurant, which offers traditional Icelandic dishes, and the cozy Uppsalir bar and café. All guestrooms are rendered in contemporary décor and furnishings complemented by subtle earth hues. Each is fitted with private bathroom, telephone, satellite TV, Wi-Fi Internet access, hair dryer, safe, minibar and coffee/tea service.

Iceland

Iceland
June 15 - 23, 2009

Legend tells that the first Viking to discover the two islands in the North Atlantic Ocean wanted to keep one all to himself. So, he named the smaller, greener country Iceland and the icier country Greenland, hoping that future settlers would pass by to the northeast. On this dual-city, cross-island adventure, begin in Akureyri, Iceland’s second largest city. Scan the coastal waters of North Iceland for fins and flukes on a whale watching cruise. See high-stepping Icelandic horses. In the vast geothermal region, learn how this tiny nation has harnessed its environmental “assets” to generate efficient hydroelectric power for export and cultivate indoor gardens. Visit cosmopolitan Reykjavik and Thingvellir National Park, home to the world’s first legislative body.
