Peter A. Aron
Peter A. Aron, a native of Memphis, Tenn., earned a bachelor's degree from Tulane's College of Arts and Sciences in 1969. In 1970-71, he served a tour of duty in Vietnam with the U.S. Army Transportation Corps, for which he earned a Bronze Star, a Joint Service Commendation Medal, an Army Commendation Medal, a National Defense Service Medal and a Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Aron is vice president of Lafayette Enterprises Inc., an asset management firm in New York. He also serves as president of the J. Aron Charitable Foundation Inc., president of Ridgefield Inc. (Thibodaux, La.); director of J. Aron & Co. (New Orleans); and a director of the William B. Reily Co. (New Orleans). He serves as a trustee of Lenox Hill Hospital in New York; is a member and chairman emeritus of the South Street Seaport Museum in New York; is chairman of the board of Avon Old Farms Foundation in Avon, Conn.; and is chairman of the Council Fellows of the National Neurofibromatosis Foundation.
At Tulane, Aron is an emeritus member of the board of administrators (15 years0; a member of the dean's council of Tulane College; a member of the Tulane University Medical Center board; a member of the Medical Center Advisory Committee; and a member of the School of Social Work Advisory Committee. He is the former chair of the Tri-State Tulane Associates Program. Aron was named a fellow of the Paul Tulane Society in 1983 and was inducted into the society in 1989. In 1985, he was made an honorary member of Omicron Delta Kappa at Tulane. He has served as vice president of the New York City chapter of the Tulane Alumni Association.
Aron is married to the former Erika Kostron. They have two daughters, Heather Jane and Holly Frances. Heather Aron is a 1998 graduate of Newcomb College of Tulane University.
