Welcome to the Tulane Club of South Florida (SoFla) website. Thanks for your interest in the SoFla Chapter of the Tulane Alumni Association.
The Tulane Club of SoFla is an active group of local alumni in the Miami-Dade and Broward County areas who gather for social, educational, and cultural activities. We also share Tulane and New Orleans related information through the use of our email list. We have about 1600 alumni in this area and including "parents and friends" we are 2400 people, 650 of which are on the email list, making it one of the largest email lists in the Tulane Alumni Association (TAA) family. This email list is the most effective and efficient way to communicate with the Tulane Alums in the South Florida area, informing them of Tulane related info and social activities. Please sign up and you will be assured that you are kept up to date on all upcoming events in the SoFla area and kept informed of all Tulane related info.
The club is a constituent member of the Tulane Alumni Association (TAA). Founded in 1898, TAA provides a forum for meaningful involvement and interaction among the university’s 105,000 alumni, its students, and university leaders.
In May 2002, the Tulane Alumni Association presented us the Outstanding Club award. In recent years our events have included crawfish boils, Mardi Gras parties and our own float in the Fiesta Tropicale Mardi Gras parade, receptions for President Scott Cowen, Football parties, a presentation at the Barbara Gillman (Newcomb alumna) Gallery by Newcomb Art Director Erik Neill, a Business School reception with Dean McFarland at the Wolfsonian Museum, and numerous other events.
Activities of the club are planned and organized by local alumni with the assistance of the Tulane Office of Alumni Affairs. Therefore, your ideas and your help are always welcome. Please contact the club’s leaders on the “Club Leadership” page if you would like to get involved.
This page is an online bulletin board for local alumni to share information and ideas with each other. For example, if you are looking for a roommate, a new job, or new employee, or if you want to announce that a New Orleans band is coming to town, here's where to make your announcement.

The Albert H. “Sonny” Small, Jr. (A&S’79) Regional Challenge Grant for Tulane Alumni Residing in the DC, Virginia, Maryland Area
Tulane alumnus Albert H. “Sonny” Small, Jr. has announced a unique opportunity for alumni in the D.C., Virginia and Maryland area making a gift to the Tulane University Rebuilding Fund. Mr. Small will match all donations, dollar for dollar*, made to the Tulane University Rebuilding Fund from alumni donors in D.C., Virginia and Maryland and those who have not yet made a gift to the Tulane Rebuilding Fund - up to $500,000 total.
This Challenge allows these alumni to give to Tulane University knowing that the amount they give will be doubled, making the impact of their individual gifts even greater. The collective impact of new gifts from alumni and matching funds from this challenge grant will provide essential support for Tulane during its rebuilding process.
Donors from these areas need only make their gift to the Rebuilding Fund. Qualifying gifts will automatically be applied to the Albert H. “Sonny” Small, Jr. Challenge Grant.
*up to $10,000 per household

Join area alumnae for a night of friendship and conversation as we discuss Nothing Right, a collection of short stories by Antonya Nelson, the 2012 Zale-Kimmerling Writer-in-Residence. Known for her exploration of the emotional terrain of women, the Washington Post named Ms. Nelson one of the “twenty young fiction writers of the new millennium.” In Nothing Right, she crafts an intelligent collection of stories examining marriage, relationships, betrayal and the power struggles that constitute family life.
Learn more about the Newcomb Book Clubs and the Zale-Kimmerling Writer-in-Residence program at tulane.edu/newcomb/book-clubs.cfm. Help strengthen our Newcomb network by participating in this discussion on April 19.

Join fellow Tulane alumni at the March Sunday Jazz Brunch on the Riverwalk. We have been setting up where 2nd Ave. meets the New River, just south of Dicey Rileys and Revolution Live, and we'll try to get that spot again if possible. If you like, wear a Tulane t-shirt so it will be easier to find each other.
Feel free to bring food and drinks as this is an event best enjoyed with some refreshments (but both are available for purchase). We also suggest bringing chairs and / or blankets to be able to sit more comfortably under the shade of the trees.
This is a FREE family-friendly and pet-friendly event and a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
