About the Club

The Tulane Club of San Francisco is an active group of local alumni who organize social, educational, and cultural activities for Tulane alumni in the bay area. The club is a constituent member of the Tulane Alumni Association (TAA). Founded in 1898, TAA provides a forum for meaningful involvement and interaction among the university's 105,000 alumni, its students, and university leaders.

With more than 3,000 local Tulane alumni, the San Francisco club has the tenth largest concentration of alumni in the country and covers a territory that stretches from Monterey to Sacramento. Our email distribution list includes 450 members.

In recent years our events have included Crawfish Boils, Mardi Gras parties, a reception at the Hannah Vineyards with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Tulane football pre-game parties, participation in the Renew the Zoo program at the San Francisco Zoo, SF Giants baseball games and numerous happy hours.

Activities of the club are planned and organized by local alumni with the assistance of the Tulane Office of Alumni Affairs. Therefore, your ideas and your help are always welcome. Please contact the club's leaders on the "Club Leadership" page if you would like to get involved.

I am writing to you with an urgent need to help a friend. Jon Galinson, a classmate from Tulane University, was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) last year.

He has been undergoing chemotherapy for the past seven months, but his disease seems to be too aggressive to be halted by this treatment.  Jon's best hope for a cure is a stem cell transplant, and we are currently in search of a match for him. We are asking all of our friends, family members, friends of friends and everyone in our extended circle (and your extended circles) to register with the Be the Match Registry of the National Marrow Donor Program as soon as possible. The process to join is very simple and involves a medical questionnaire and a cheek swab. You can read more about it at: www.bethematch.com <http://www.bethematch.com/> .

You can join via our online drive at http://join.marrow.org <http://join.marrow.org/> . From now until June 22 there is no fee, do NOT put in any promo code. Unfortunately after June 22, the test is $25, and when asked to provide a promo code, please type in JonGalinson2. You will be registered in the national database and contacted if a match for Jon or another patient, of course with no obligation to be a donor.
