After growing up in Charleston, I found it easy to fall in love with New Orleans, which I've done over and over in the twelve years since I set foot on Tulane's campus in 2001. After graduating from Newcomb in 2005, I joined Teach For America's Greater New Orleans Corps and started teaching two weeks before Hurricane Katrina devastated the city. I traveled a circuitous route back to classroom: first working to start a school in Houston, then managing a FEMA disaster recovery center, and finally implementing the public service graduation requirement at Tulane before returning to teach high school English in rural Louisiana. After six more years teaching at one of New Orleans's oldest public schools, I returned to Charleston this summer to be closer to family and my fiancé. Though I miss the sounds of the streetcar and late night revelry, I'm learning to love the slower pace of life at the beach.
Originally from Dallas, TX I attended Tulane on athletic scholarship and graduated from the Freeman School of Business with a BSM in 1995. Upon graduation I moved to New York City where I worked for Goldman Sachs for 6 years and spent the first 20+ years of my working life in the financial/investment industry. The last 10+ years was spent starting, building and running my own business. However, the grind of living in the Northeast, along with a strong desire to raise my kids back down South, we made a family decision to move to Charleston. We're excited to be in here, and though it's only been five months Charleston already feels like home.
Local Tulane Clubs operate in numerous cities around the United States and the world, offering social, educational, and cultural activities for area alumni. The clubs are constituent members of the Tulane Alumni Association.
Activities of the club are planned and organized by local alumni with the assistance of the Tulane Office of Alumni Affairs. Therefore, your ideas and your help are always welcome. The continued success of the club is dependent upon your involvement, so please contact the club president to get involved.
This page is an online bulletin board for local alumni to share information and ideas with each other. For example, if you are looking for a roommate, a new job, or new employee, or if you want to announce that a New Orleans band is coming to town, here's where to make your announcement.
Since this is a free service, commercial announcements will not be accepted. Please limit posting to 100 words.
