Incoming first-year students planning to enroll in courses elsewhere during the summer prior to arriving at Tulane should consult with their academic advisor. Courses must meet the guidelines below in order to be eligible for review. The approval of transfer credits is at the sole discretion of Newcomb-Tulane College. Your academic advisor can provide specific instructions and the necessary paperwork required to submit courses for approval.
Tulane will award up to fifteen credits for dual enrollment high school/college courses offered by accredited colleges and universities and with credit noted on high school transcripts. Individual course equivalency will be determined by Newcomb-Tulane departments and programs. These courses must be listed in an official catalog of the college or university. This policy applies to students entering in the catalog year of 2014 or later.
College credits earned while a student was in high school will be considered for transfer to the university only if the courses meet the following requirements:
Students must complete and send a Transfer Credit Eligibility Form Supplement to the Registrar’s Office of any college or university from which you earned allowable credit. The Registrar of that University or College must return the completed form to the Center for Academic Advising in order for your transcripts to be evaluated. The form is available from your academic advisor.
Once students have matriculated in a degree program at Tulane University, they are subject to the standard policies and procedures governing transfer credit. Thus, students wishing to take summer courses after completing high school, but before beginning their first semester at Tulane University, must follow the transfer credit procedure.
If you plan to take college courses this summer and have questions about the proper procedures, please contact the Advising Center at 504-865-5798 or email@example.com.
