1st Down Women's Football Clinic

June 11, 2013 - A Fundraiser for Devon's Den Hosted by Green Wave Head Football Coach Curtis Johnson

The 1st Down Divas Women’s Football Clinic is an opportunity for women to learn and further understand the game of football. Darren Sproles and Lance Moore, of the New Orleans Saints, will be featured speakers along with a few other surprise guests! The evening will feature great food, complementary beverages, a live auction and great door prizes at The Crystal Palace in Harvey, Louisiana from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

All proceeds from the 1st Down Divas Women’s Football Clinic will benefit the Devon Walker
Foundation, specifically Devon’s Den. We hope that with your generous support, we can help offset some of Devon’s medical/living expenses. Devon’s Den is the addition of a bedroom and bathroom to the Walker home in Destrehan, LA. The addition will include the technology necessary for Devon’s health and safety as well as enable him to continue his course work at Tulane.

Asian-American Student Union Hosts Two Fundraisers for Devon Walker

April 12, 2013 - Tulane's Asian-American Student Union Talent Show

The Asian-American Student Union is holding its annual talent show on Friday, April 12, at 7 p.m. in McAlister Auditorium, Among the featured celebrities: Takeru Kobayashi (Coney Island hot dog eating champion) and Poreotics from America's Best Dance Crew. There will also be over ten student acts. Tickets are $5 (free with student ID). Donations will be accepted for the Devon Walker Fund. April 8-12, 2013 - Origami Paper Crane Fundraising for Devon Walker

From April 8-12, the Asian-American Student Union is hosting a unique fundraiser for Devon Walker: origami paper crane folding sessions. Tulanians are invited to drop by, learn to fold cranes, and dedicate messages to Devon Walker. For every crane folded, a private donor will give $1 to the Devon Walker Fund. (Up to $3000.) An Evening to Benefit Devon Walker (Houston, Texas)

On February 12, 2013, there will be an event at Capone’s Bar & Oven to benefit Devon Walker.  The Guzzlers (a band featuring two Green Wave alums) will  provide the musical entertainment.  There will be a silent auction and all proceeds will be given to Devon.  There is no cover charge.

Family Fun Run/Walk to benefit the Devon Walker Fund

On Dec. 1, 2012, St. Andrew's Episcopal School will host a celebration run/walk in Audubon Park in conjunction with the school's ING Run For Something Better® School Award. As part of the school's commitment to community and service to others, the proceeds of the event will be donated to the Devon Walker Fund.

The run/walk will provide both a half-mile and a 1.8 mile option to encourage participants of all ages and abilities. Early registration runs through Nov. 10 and costs $8. After Nov. 10, registration will be $10. Download and print the registration form.

Join us on the starting line, Shelter #12 (St. Charles and Walnut) at 9 a.m. on Dec. 1 to run/walk around Audubon Park to stay on course for health.

 


Comedy for a Cause on November 9 Featuring Carrey B, RedBean and Mike Strecker

The Black Faculty & Staff Association presents Comedy for a Cause, a fundraiser for Devon Walker on Friday, November 9 in Dixon Hall. Doors will open at 8 p.m. and the show will begin at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20 or $10 for students. Comedy for a Cause benefiting Devon Walker


Rally for Devon on November 3 at Republic New Orleans

A fundraiser for Devon Walker will be held at the Republic New Orleans (828 South Peters Street in the Warehouse District) on November 3 from 6-10 p.m. after the Tulane Homecoming game.

There will be live entertainment by The Reed Alleman Band and DJ Byserk, a silent auction and complimentary food stations provided by Sainte Marie Brasserie, Capdeville, Pie Pizza & Pasta, Rock n’ Sake, and Bittersweet Confections. Silent Auction donations include items from The Ed Reed Foundation, Perlis, Branch Out, Republic National Distributing Company, Fast Cash Pawn, Root, Zapp’s Potato Chips, Armoire Boutique, The Elizabeth Chronicles, Pit Stop Automotive, Saints Memorabilia and much more.

The event is for patrons 18 years and older. A cash bar will be available to those guests over 21 years of age. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for Tulane students with a valid ID.

Pre-sale tickets can be purchased at www.republicnola.com. 100% of ticket sales and silent auction proceeds will be donated to the Devon Walker Fund. Republic will additionally donate a portion of bar sale proceeds from the event.

Dodgeball Fundraiser for Devon on October 20


The Tulane Sports Law Society is excited to announce a charity dodgeball tournament to raise money for the Devon Walker Fund and the Sports Law Society.  The tournament will be held on Tulane's campus in New Orleans at the Reily Center facilities on Saturday, October 20, 2012.  Teams will compete in bracket-style dodgeball matches for prizes.  Teams of six to eight persons are permitted – six players are allowed on the court during each match, with two extra players permitted as alternates or substitutes. Devon Walker Blood Drive

A blood drive will be held on Drill Road on Tulane's uptown campus on Tuesday, Sept. 25 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For every pint of blood donated, The Blood Center will make a financial contribution to the Devon Walker Fund.

Donors should eat a good meal before donating and must be feeling well. You must weigh 110 lbs to donate and must bring a photo ID.



White Out the Dome for Devon

The Tulane Green Wave football team will play Ole Miss at 11 a.m. this Saturday, Sept. 22 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.  Wear your Devon t-shirt or any white shirt to white out the Dome in support of Devon Walker.



Saints’ Morgan teams up with Tulane to support Devon Walker Fund

In an effort help a family in need second-year Saints wide receiver Joe Morgan is teaming up with the Tulane Athletics Department to raise funds for injured Tulane football player Devon Walker and his family. More



Tulane students are selling shirts to benefit Devon Walker

T-shirts designed with Walker's name and number went on sale Friday (Sept. 14) afternoon on the Lavin-Bernick Center quad. The shirts sell for $20 and come with a free wristband. All net proceeds will be donated to a fund established for Walker. The shirts also are available onlineas well as at the Tulane bookstore and the Tulane team shop. See photos



Tulane students host “Green Out for Devon” rally on Sept. 14

From the Undergraduate Student Government:

"The Undergraduate Student Government is hosting a rally, “Green Out for Devon” this Friday, September 14, at 6:30 p.m. at the Gorson Porch/LBC Quad. We have invited multiple members of the Tulane community to speak at the event, including athletics staff, administrators, students, and friends of Devon.

The rally will serve as an opportunity for the Tulane community to come together and show their support for Devon and his family, as well as our wishes for a safe and speedy recovery. Collection bins will be set up for those who wish to show support through financial contributions. Checks should be made out to the ‘Devon Walker Fund.’ We are looking forward to seeing you dressed in your olive green to show your support for Devon."


College football community donates $10,000 to Devon Walker Fund

The College Football Assistance Fund announced that a grant of $10,000 will be made to the Devon Walker Fund to help defray medical costs and provide assistance to his family during this difficult time. Read the release
