Campus Lactation / Family Rooms

Mothers are encouraged to breastfeed anywhere on campus and pump wherever they feel comfortable. The following rooms are specially designed for your convenience and are available for all faculty, staff, and students. 

Some of the amenities in our rooms are made possible from the Tulane University Women's Association (TUWA).

Downtown Locations:

Tulane University Hospital and Clinic

Room 4220

1415 Tulane Avenue  New Orleans, LA 70112

This private room is equipped with a couch, chairs, and a table with nursing literature.

The room is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and no key is needed to use the room, 
    but it will lock from the inside. It should always be unlocked when not in use.

The room is designated for employees or patients/guests who are breastfeeding and/or pumping.

Tulane Health Sciences Center

School of Medicine (Mezzanine level, room M064)
1430 Tulane Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70112

This private room is equipped with a chair, a refrigerator, a table with nursing literature, and a Medela Lactina Electric Breast Pump and is located near a women's bathroom. 

To obtain the key for the room, please contact Kadie Winckelmann (201-320-0598).  Also, security always has a key and is located on the 1^St floor of the building by the main entrance.

Tidewater Building - School of Public Health & Tropical Medicine

   1440 Canal Street, 18th floor (Room 1830), New Orleans, LA 70112

   This room is equipped with seating, a refrigerator, sink and a Medela Lactina Electric Breast pump.

Mary Amelia Douglas-Whited Community Women's Health Education Center

143 South Liberty Street, 2nd floor, New Orleans, LA 70112

This room has a Medela Lactina Electric Breast Pump, a sink, a refrigerator, bathroom stall, and seating.

The entrance to this building is locked, but if you push the call button by the door, someone will let you in.  The pumping area on the 2nd floor is not locked.

            Murphy Building

This lactation room is located on the 15th floor of the Murphy Building, in a private, women's, 

single stall bathroom. This room is labeled "Lactation Station" and is equipped with a sink, 

chair, and table with literature. No key is needed to use this room, but it will lock from the inside.

Uptown Locations:

 

Reily Student Recreation Center

McAlister Dr. Extension, New Orleans, LA 70118

The Reily Center has several locations within the building that are comfortable for breastfeeding moms.  In addition, the gender assisted changing room is equipped with a changing station, shower, and toilet.

Weinmann Hall - Tulane Law School

Room number 1RRA, located within the first floor women's restroom, which is room 1RR1

This is a private, locked lactation room with seating, a table, a Medela Lactina Electric Breast Pump, and easy access to bathroom amenities.

Please note: the Law School is Key Card access only after 7 PM.

The key to this room should be picked up on the 2nd floor, Room 232, from either Cathy Dunn or Karen Duhe. 
The Mailroom (open 7:30am- 5pm) located on the first floor in Room 120 also has a key.

Student Health Center (Uptown)

The Student Health Center will give a requesting mother a private patient room to pump.

Lavin-Bernik Center

 

The lactation room is located on the 2nd floor of the LBC in a private, women's, single stall bathroom. The room is labeled "Lactation Station" and is equipped with a sink, chair and table with literature. Like the LBC, this room is available 24 hours a day and no key is needed to use the room but it will lock from inside.

Elmwood Location:

School for Continuning Studies
