Orientation Staff



Student Staff

Part of the reason why Tulane's orientation program is so successful is due to our outstanding student staff and volunteers. Without their involvement, the experience wouldn't be nearly what it is.

 

Orientation Team Leaders

As the second tier of student leadership within the orientation staff, the 11 Orientation Team Leaders (OTLs) are involved in facilitating New Student Orientation in May and June and specific Fall Welcome events in August. The OTLs also help select, train, and supervise the Fall Welcome Orientation Coordinators (OCs). This position is compensated with a combination of free housing from mid-May through June and a stipend. The selection process occurs in January.


NOLA Experience Coordinators

Our perennially popular NOLA Experience program is expanding with new exiting new elements for 2014 – Greenie Camp, Hillel, and IGNITE. These pre-move in programs are designed to introduce students to each other, to Tulane and to the broader New Orleans community to enhance their integration into university life. A group of dedicated full time professionals from several campus departments plan the activities based on each program’s topic. Our student staff assist the professional staff and lead team-building experiences. We count on our staff to be enthusiastic representatives of Tulane, sensitive guides and outstanding role models for new students.

This position is unpaid; however, student staff are granted campus housing early move-in privileges and participate in all of the activities and meals with their group.

 

Fall Welcome Orientation Coordinators

Some of the first friendly faces new students meet when they arrive to campus in August, the 100 orientation coordinators are involved in facilitating Fall Welcome. This position is unpaid; however, orientation coordinators enjoy the perks of early move-in to the residence halls, access to special events and several free T-shirts. During their Fall Welcome commitment, the orientation coordinators work closely with incoming students to familiarize them with university life. The selection process occurs during the second semester.

 

Office Assistants 

We employ several general office assistants to work during regular business hours during the academic year. New assistants are usually hired at the beginning of each semester. Preference is given to students who have college work-study awards and previous Orientation experience. If you would like to apply for a position, please contact our office.

Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, Penny received her B.A. from The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and her Master's degree in Student Personnel in Higher Education from the University of Georgia. Penny has worked at Tulane for over 20 years in various positions in Student Affairs and Academic Affairs.

A New Orleans, Louisiana native, Brad joined the Orientation and Parent Programs team in 2013. Brad received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies from Rhodes College in 2005 and his Master's degree in College Student Affairs Administration from the University of Georgia in 2010. Brad has worked in several areas within higher education including admissions, student life, leadership programs, and housing and residence life.
