Student Affairs - Inspiring Student Success

Parents as Partners

As the Office of Orientation and Parent Programs, we welcome and invite parents and family members to take part in the many programs and services we offer just for our families of new and current students. For parents of new students, we offer information sessions at New Student Orientation each summer and organize parent events in August during Move-In weekend, the beginning of the Fall Welcome program for new students. We invite parents of all students to return to campus for Family Weekend at Homecoming later in the fall. Throughout the year we will keep you well-informed through a variety of different communication mechanisms ranging from periodic e-newsletters and web-based presentations. We encourage you to utilize our Pelican Partners, a group of experienced Tulane parents who volunteer to answer your questions via e-mail. These parents are eager to assist you in your evolving role as a parent of a college student.

At Tulane, we believe that parents and family members are valuable partners in the work we do to inspire the success of our students. This means that we will commit to providing you with valuable, timely information both online and in person.  We will work with you to investigate and navigate institutional resources. We will provide suggestions and guidance when needed regarding the transition to life in college or critical issues impacting your student's experience. To help your student learn to manage their academic and personal success, we recommend that you coach and support your student and encourage him or her to take steps to find information, utilize helpful resources and solve problems.  Working together we can provide a dynamic support system for your Tulane student.
