During Orientation, students are required to spend the night between Day 1 and Day 2 of the program on campus in one of our first year residence halls. Our Orientation student staff will also stay in this residence hall to be available for support and the front desk will be staffed overnight by our Housing and Residence Life staff. Required overnight housing is included in the student orientation fee. This part of our program offers new students the opportunity to sample living in one of our first year student residence halls. Each new student will be paired with another of the same gender and assigned to a double room. Basic linens including sheets, a light blanket, pillow and towel will be provided. The rooms are furnished with 2 twin beds, desks, chairs and closets. If you want to bring a laptop computer, internet access is available, but you must supply your own Ethernet cord.
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate early or extended stays on campus due to the overall schedule of orientation sessions, summer school and other conferences.
For parents who choose to attend the optional Parent Orientation, we recommend that you use our Tulane Travel Portal to find the most advantageous rates at New Orleans hotels, motels, or bed & breakfast inns. The “Visit Tulane” link on the Tulane Travel Portal opens to show several local and national partners that will help assist you in arranging your stay in New Orleans. Those locations in the neighborhoods of Uptown, Carrollton and the Garden District are the closest proximity to campus, however the French Quarter, CBD and Mid-City neighborhoods offer added culture to your trip as well. Please don’t forget to ask if there is a Tulane Parent discount when making your reservation.
You may park for free ONLY in the upper floors of the Diboll Complex on Ben Weiner Drive. Please print out the parking permit above to place in your dashboard. Other parking spaces on campus require a different permit and you'll likely receive a ticket for parking there without a permit. Our Traffic Office makes an exception for the Diboll upper level garage spaces during New Student Orientation. Whatever you do, DON'T park in any spot marked "Reserved" because your car could be booted and you'll definitely get a ticket.
