Move-In Day Parking Information for Uptown Campus Parking Permit Holders

To facilitate new students’ move-in onto campus all surface level parking between Freret Street and Claiborne Avenue, as well as the Diboll Parking Garage and Rosen Parking Lot, will be reserved from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for new students and families on Friday, August 22. Those with parking permits between St. Charles Avenue and Freret Street will not be affected by the Move-In Day parking restrictions. Handicap parking permit holders will have reserved spaces on Engineering Road and golf-cart transportation to offices will be provided from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Additionally, some parking will be reserved at University Square for mission-critical Move-In staff who must report to work on Friday, August 22 before 7 a.m. Department heads of these staff members will communicate parking instructions to them. Faculty and staff who usually park at University Square and ride the Blue Line Shuttle to campus should be aware of the limited parking available at University Square on Move-In Day.

Tulane faculty and staff who currently have on-campus parking permits will be allowed to park in Garage 5 of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Friday, August 22. Buses will transport faculty and staff to campus continuously from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Friday morning and back to the Superdome from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.

  • Buses will drop off at four locations on the uptown campus: Ben Weiner Drive beside the Wilson Center, Ben Weiner Drive beside Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine, Willow Street and McAlister Extension beside PJ’s, and Freret Street in front of Devlin Fieldhouse.

  • Afternoon return trips to the Superdome will load at Freret Street in front of Devlin Fieldhouse and McAlister Extension at the Reily Center/Diboll Parking Garage Shuttle Stop.

Permit holders seeking transportation from the Superdome to campus and back between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. should take the normal Tulane Green Line Shuttle  that stops at 1555 Poydras Street across the street from the Superdome Gate A.

Faculty and staff who need to report to work by 8:30 a.m. should arrive at the Superdome by no later than 7:30 a.m.

In order to provide adequate parking and buses to accommodate the needs of faculty and staff permit holders, all faculty and staff permit holders who plan to park at the Superdome and ride the shuttle need to register no later than Tuesday, August 19. Registrants will receive a printable confirmation form to put on their vehicle dashboards and will also need their current Tulane parking permit hangtag for identification by the Superdome lot attendants on Friday, August 22.

We understand the parking restrictions for Move-In Day may inconvenience some of you and offer the options below that you may wish to consider as an alternative to driving to work on Friday, August 22:

  • The Division of Student Affairs will provide free streetcar and bus tokens (two per person) to faculty and staff. Tokens may be picked up from the Vice President for Student Affairs, Suite G03 on the Garden Level of the LBC from Monday, August 18 through Thursday, August 22 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

  • For faculty and staff who may wish to bike or walk to work on Move-In Day, the Reily Student Recreation Center will allow non-members with a valid Tulane ID to utilize the locker rooms and showers if they arrive before 8:30 a.m.
