CCS IBM Fellowship

IBM Corporation Fellowships in Computational Science

The Center for Computational Science announces the IBM Corporation Fellowships in Computational Science. This year there will be two types of fellowships:

  1. Up to 6 IBM Fellowships will be awarded for 2014-2015 to current Ph.D. students in the School of Science and Engineering.  Each IBM Fellow will receive a $3,000 stipend to be added to his/her current source of funding, access to the CCS computational infrastructure, and the title of 2014-15 IBM Fellow in Computational Science.

  2. Up to 2 IBM Teaching Fellowships will be awarded for 2014-2015 to current Ph.D. students in the School of Science and Engineering who will be teaching assistants during the entire academic year.  Each IBM Teaching Fellow will receive a $4,000 stipend to be added to his/her current teaching assistantship, access to the CCS computational infrastructure, and the title of 2014-15 IBM Teaching Fellow in Computational Science.

In exchange, all Fellows are expected to participate in CCS activities that include seminars, workshops and opportunities to meet with visiting computational scientists. In addition, the Fellows will present a poster with their research results during the SSE research day in the spring of 2015.

The Application is short and consists of:

  1. Name, academic department, year in Ph.D. program, name of research advisor.
  2. A statement from the student describing the research project expected to be addressed during the year. Of particular interest is a description of the computational aspects of the project.
  3. A brief description of the expected computational tools to be used (serial or parallel programming and language, software needs, hardware needs if known, etc.)
  4. A statement of how computation will enhance the research.
  5. A statement of support from a faculty advisor.

Send items 1-4 in a single document as an attachment to ccs@tulane.edu.  Ask your faculty advisor to send item 5 to ccs@tulane.edu by the deadline.

THE APPLICATION PERIOD IS NOW CLOSED!

Application Deadline is: June 30, 2014
