Message from the Chair

Welcome to the Department of Pediatrics at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. Our department has a proud and distinguished history of providing care for the children of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region as well as for diverse populations from around the world.

The mission of the Department is to advance knowledge in the field of Pediatrics through innovative medical education to students, residents and fellows; cutting edge basic and applied health research; and quality clinical services in general and specialty pediatrics.

The training environment at Tulane provides one of the most diverse residency experiences in the country. Residents are exposed to a variety of primary and tertiary health care systems, including primary care regional hospitals, private hospitals and Tulane Medical Center. Our combined residency program with the Ochsner Health System also provides the resident with a balanced mix of primary care and subspecialty training.

In addition to providing outstanding clinical care, the Department of Pediatrics at Tulane is endowed with superb clinician-scientists who conduct cutting edge research in multiple areas such as human genetics, cancer, infectious disease, asthma and growth and development.

I look forward to seeing you in New Orleans,
