R. Hunter Pierson Jr., a resident of New Orleans, received his B.A. from Louisiana State University in 1973.
Mr. Pierson is president of Pierson Investments, a private investment firm that manages commercial real estate, timberland, and securities. He has also been a director of Deltic Timber Corporation, a spin-off of Murphy Oil Corporation, since 1999. Mr. Pierson also serves on Deltic Timber’s Board of Directors’ Audit Committee and Executive Compensation Committee.
Mr. Pierson is a member of the Tulane President’s Council, the Business School Council, the Department of Medicine Community Advisory Board and the Health Sciences Center’s Advisory Governors. He is a past member of the Health Sciences Center’s Board of Governors, Health Sciences Center’s 170th Anniversary Council, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean’s Advisory Council, and the Center for Clinical Effectiveness Council. Mr. Pierson co-chaired the Promise and Distinction: The Campaign for Tulane University with his wife, Cathy, was inducted into the Paul Tulane Society in 2005, and was recipient of the Tulane Alumni Association’s 2009 Dermot McGlinchey Lifetime Achievement Award.
Mr. Pierson is a board member of the Public Affairs Research Council of Louisiana (and currently board secretary), the New Orleans Museum of Art, the Louisiana State Museum Foundation, the Historic New Orleans Collection, Teach for America, and the Committee of 100 for Economic Development in Louisiana. He formerly served on the boards of the Bureau of Government Research, Isidore Newman School, WYES-TV and the Arts Council of New Orleans.
