Once you enter college, it’s never too early to begin sorting through the ranks of graduate programs available for your post-bachelor's education. With the help of Kady Weingart, assistant director of the Payson Center for International Development and Payson Center project assistant, Rene Dugar, I’ve compiled a few tips on making the most of your graduate fair experience.

The Idealist Grad Fair will be held on Tuesday (Oct. 30) in the Qatar Ballroom in Lavin-Bernick Center from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

DO: Wear comfortable shoes. Business attire is not required.

DO: Use public transportation if possible, parking is limited.

DON’T: Bring resumes. This is not a career fair.

DO: Bring a bag to carry all the handouts you’ll receive.

DO: Bring business cards if you have them. It is easier to hand representatives your card instead of signing your name, email and phone number repeatedly.

DO: Review the schools scheduled to attend. There are 85!

DO: RSVP.

DON’T: Be a no show!

This year’s fair is hosted by the Tulane School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, the Tulane Career Services Center and the Loyola University Career Development Center. The Payson Center will be among the graduate programs present.
